The eyes are beautiful, especially with the color; blue, green and the monochromes. The skin folds below the left eye are shaded and blended well, but the one one below the right eye isn't blended that much. Looking from a distance, however, this isn't a problem. The negative shading for hair is done very nicely. Some parts of the hair could have been darker to create more contrast; however, as I have not seen the reference image, I am inclined to believe that the reference dictated such shading. The background color complements the eye.
Everything else looks great. You have worked meticulously and it shows. Usually, I do quick sketches and light shading, but I have worked on one or two portraits (never uploaded them here) and I know how difficult it can be ( especially, in my case, without a fine/retractable eraser). A little more blending on the forehead and some other areas might give better texture to the skin. Overall, this is a very promising work.
thank you , yes the hair is a tricky one to draw but i have to say that i could of be alot better if i didnt made so many mistakes and erased alot of times which made the paper like crap :\
Hi Shimon ,yep this is definately a very nicely done...I'm looking down the road to getting half this good and your drawing skills have made me all the more focused....at the risk of repeating myself very well done . cu Nev
Shimon Hi...You flatter me with your comment. I started drawing for fun mid 2011 when I joined DA up till then I was seriously into atheletes. Picked up a pencil in 1961 when I was 13 ,drew some comic covers, did some occasional drawing through to 88 and 98,got involved in atheletics for 10years and my son started me drawing again,in 2011 to now...I still do it for fun but having seen so much fabulous art on DA I really want to get seriously better, great would be great,I will think of you if I get there...I see a change in my drawing and I am so inspired to improve,my motivation is incredible. To draw portraits is my target and do it to the best of my ability is my aim,and to improve is my desire....I love the way the pictures come of the end of my pencil and I have shaken my head and said how,and can I do better and then the next challenge comes... ... I love your Adriana for its shading and balance, so beautifully done...Sorry to give my life story but you asked ....I hope to see more of your art and I hope you keep in touch in the future,or pop a watch on and comment occasionally, because I will with you...Cu Nev
this is great that you started drawing again , iam looking around your gallery again and i can see that you can draw portraits really well , better then me , all your outlines look very good everything is in proportion . you just need better shading skills and you will be one of the best in here :] what kind of pencils and paper are you using ? you should upload some of those comics you did back then if you still have them .
